Dr. Lumley's Research Program
1. Cognitive-Developmental Models of Adolescent Mood Psychopathology and Resilience: this line of research has been funded by the Ontario Mental Health Foundation New Investigator Fellowship and forms the heart of Dr. Lumley’s research program. Several related projects fall under this umbrella examining cognitive vulnerability to depression and the role of positive psychology for predicting psychopathology and resilience in large samples of youth from local elementary and high schools as well as mental health agencies.
2. Strengths to Grow Positive Parenting Programs: The Strengths to Grow research study aims to develop and evaluate a brief online program that parents can use to identify and promote their child(ren)’s unique strengths. We hope to show that these programs are an accessible and engaging way to promote family well-being. Towards this end, we will be inviting the parents/guardians of students in kindergarten to Grade 8 to access the online parenting program and to complete two brief online surveys.
3. Mental Health on Campus: Dr Lumley and her students have a series of projects that examine the experience of students attending University with mental health challenges. In particular they are aimed at best understanding how resilience and recovery may best be supported during this important developmental period. Dr Lumley has developed and researched a for-credit wellbeing course (PSYC*1400) for students registered for their mental health challenge.
